opening for Traditional Service Leader/Organist (part-time)
Job Description:
The Traditional Service Leader/Organist shall be responsible for the music programming for the traditional service(s) and special services as determined by the Pastor(s) and the Worship and Music Ministry Team.
Qualifications:
�?� Preferred Bachelor�??s degree in Music and/or rudimentary understanding of music selection in choral and religious settings.
�?� Minimum of three years experience or academic competence in playing the organ and piano.
�?� Minimum of one year experience in directing choral music in a religious setting.
�?� A believer in Jesus Christ as Savior.
Responsibilities:
�?� Schedule, plan and select music for the traditional service(s) and for special services as determined by the Pastor(s) and the Worship and Music Ministry Team.
�?� Select and play an appropriate prelude and postlude for each service.
�?� Be responsible for choir(s) activities: practices, performances, selection and purchase of new music, recruiting, directing, and teaching members of the choir(s), and working with volunteers to maintain the library of music.
�?� Participate in periodic meetings of the Worship and Music Ministry Team (usually monthly). This includes recommending music cost items for the next budget and discussing these with the team, so that there is a consensus on the intended use of funds.
�?� Ensure that all church keyboard instruments are properly tuned and serviced regularly.
�?� Hire vocal and /or instrumental soloists, within the allotted budget, for the traditional worship service(s).
�?� Be creative and encouraging in integrating music into the life of the congregation and the life outside the church.
�?� Be punctual and prepared for each service or practice.
�?� Be able to meet deadlines.
�?� Be conversant with congregational members and visitors, and maintain a positive demeanor.
