- Description
- OBJECTIVE: Historic Lutheran cathedral with a tradition of music excellence is seeking to employ a dynamic director of music ministry to engage members and the community. Duties may include serving as principal organist, choir director, and director of longstanding organ recital series (www.trinityakron.org/organseries), as well as developing other associate music staff positions, as needed. Will also work with both volunteer and professional musicians in solo and small ensemble settings.
This position will provide professional leadership and assume responsibility for the total music program of the church in cooperation with the Worship Ministry Team. Our ideal candidate is a skilled liturgical organist, an enthusiastic choir director, and committed team member with excellent organization and communication skills. Strong knowledge and experience in sacred music and liturgical worship required. Must be committed to supporting and developing member musicians.
Our organ is a Berghaus four manual with 82 ranks and 4,551 pipes, and includes a tracker touch with magnetic bars, solid state multiplexing with 99-level memory (Peterson), and four-level programmable crescendo.
Position has the right of first refusal for weddings, funerals, and other paid events.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of Bachelorâ??s degree in music, sacred music, or other related field
Minimum 6 years experience as principal organist, 2 years experience as a music director or equivalent experience, and 1 year experience in choral direction
