- Light of Christ is an ELCA congregation whose focus is in blended and contemporary styles of worship. This person would provide oversight to our worship services, working with a variety of groups to bring creativity to our worship experiences. This position, if FT, would include organist responsibilities. If a candidate does not have those skills, the position could be 3/4 time, allowing for the hiring of a specifically focused organist. The job includes the following responsibilities.
1) Coordinate the music, drama and arts at all services of Light of Christ in conjunction with the Pastors, staff and volunteers.
2) Select music, in consultation with Pastors, to reflect the theme and appropriate style for all regular and festival day worship services.
3) Oversee the work of all music staff, and have oversight and responsibility for the Worship budget.
4) Direct the Vocal and Handbell Choirs, choosing music and inviting individuals to serve in these ministries.
5) Play the organ to assist in leading the traditional and blended worship services.
6) Oversee the work and support the leaders of the Altar Care, Drama, Decorating Teams.
7) Bring together orchestra and other instrumental ensembles at appropriate times throughout the year.
8) Keep abreast of new trends in worship life, including Emergent Worship ideas, and bring creative ideas to the worship planning and visioning process.
9) Oversee the organization of music spaces and files, and provide for the upkeep of LOC instruments.
10) Support other staff as music is needed for various programs (i.e. VBS, Childrenā??s worship service, special music and drama programs, etc.)
