LCI is seeking a church musician to lead its Sunday morning worship services on piano and organ.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Play for all Sunday services and services following on other days, i.e. Advent and Lent midweek services, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, plus any additional services as required.
2. Accompany weekly rehearsals of the choir and contemporary worship team.
3. Help with the planning and rehearsing of hymns and other music for worship in consultation with the Pastor and the Choir Director.
4. Attend the Liturgical Planners Group to help with long-range worship planning according to the seasons of the church year, usually 5 sessions annually.
5. Be available for weddings, funerals and special services, for a stipend, with first right of refusal.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Excellent organ and piano skills, with a strong commitment to regular practice (pianists willing to learn organ are welcome to apply).
2. Ability and willingness to play a variety of musical styles, from classical hymnody to contemporary praise music.
3. Ability to work in partnership with professional staff and volunteers to facilitate worship and music programs.
4. Christian commitment and experience working with a church is helpful but not required.
Compensation
The salary for this position is $1300/month and assumes an average commitment of 15 hours a week.
Two free Sundays per year, dates to be negotiated with the Pastor.
