- Description
- West Linn Lutheran Church is currently seeking lead accompanist. This position is responsible for providing piano and keyboard accompaniment at all our services. The accompanist also plays for our adult choir and performs with our contemporary worship team. This is a part-time position at 10-15 hours per week.
Prior accompaniment experience and formal music training preferred. The successful candidate must be proficient at sight reading, be able to play from a lead sheet and be able to improvise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide piano and keyboard accompaniment for all regular worship services (currently 2 per
Sunday) of the congregation, including:
Preludes, postludes, and offertory music;
Song and hymn accompaniment;
Liturgy accompaniment;
Special music accompaniment; and
Other accompaniment as directed.
o 2 Christmas Eve Services (help arrange for accompanists for additional services)
o Holy Week – Maundy Thursday and Good Friday (as needed)
o Ash Wednesday
o Midweek Lent (as needed)
o 2 Easter Sunday services (help arrange for accompanists for additional services)
Provide piano and keyboard accompaniment for the adult choir, worship team, seasonal
ensembles, and other groups as needed.
Participate in music ministry team meetings as requested.
First contact for Weddings, Memorials, Funerals and other special services which would be
accompanied at an additional cost; accompanist to provide a schedule of fees for these services.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience playing piano and keyboard instruments in a congregational worship setting.
Proficient at sight-reading hymns, choral arrangements, and piano scores.
Ability to play from a lead sheet.
Ability to improvise.
Formal training in piano and/or keyboard.
A commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of West Linn Lutheran Church.
